Thursday's Mix & Mingle highlights the life and legacy of former Congressman John Lewis

We will have 'takeaways' to commemorate the John Lewis event on Thursday, July 17th, 5pm til 6:30 pm, at the Jim & Shirley Justice Center, 812 Noble Street, Anniston, AL - the HQ of the Calhoun County Democratic Party!

There will ALSO be lots of assorted 'finger foods,' snacks and sodas, topped off with hand-dipped ice cream for dessert! Please bring something to share with others if it's convenient.

• We hope to have several local dignitaries in attendance as well as local, state and national candidates for upcoming elections.

There will be hand fans and wrist bands for everyone in attendance!

Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people.

On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, we’re taking action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble.

From voter suppression bills like the SAVE Act to the criminalization of protest, the Trump administration is launching a full-scale attack on our civil and human rights. But we know the truth: in America, the power lies with the people, and we’re rising to prove it.

The documentary John Lewis: Good Trouble, will be shown at 6:30. The film explores the Georgia representative's, 60-plus years of social activism and legislative action on civil rights, voting rights, gun control, health care reform, and immigration.
