Calhoun County Democrats ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE has kicked off. Please donate non-perishable food for the growing number of people finding themselves in need of help.
Bring canned goods and other non-perishable foods to HQ, 812 Noble Street, Anniston, AL on Wednesdays from 10 am til 4 pm.
Wednesday, November 5th;
Wednesday, November 12th;
Wednesday, November 19th
Thursday, November 20th at the November Thanksgiving meeting
Please check the expiration date – we often receive out of date food and have to toss it.

Peanut butter, canned proteins (chicken, tuna), pasta & pasta sauce, canned vegetables, pantry staples (flour, sugar, condiments) are some more often requested items. Pop-top cans are popular. Can openers are often requested. Cooking oil, cake mix, and icing.
The number of people in our community who suffer from a ‘food shortage’ –
will be larger this year than in the past.
One organization we donate to suggested buying one item, but in multiples. For example, purchase 12 cans of vegetable soup, 12 bags of beans or rice, etc. Doing that keeps food pantry volunteers from having to ‘sort, and group like items’ on their shelves and makes it easier to fill bags for clients.
However, anything we collect will be appreciated. The number of people in our community who suffer from a ‘food shortage’ – will be far greater this year than in the past. If you want to donate cash - we will shop for you - and keep receipts that track to the penny! Thank you all for any support you can offer! We cannot let our neighbors go hungry.
This list below is good, but we ARE NOT collecting fresh produce, fresh meat, eggs - only non-perishable items. Check with other local agencies who may be collecting refrigerated items.
More suggestions....
