Join us as we rally behind the call to “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”.
The campaign theme for International Women's Day, March 8, 2024 was 'Inspire Inclusion.' When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment. #InspireInclusion
Women from Calhoun and surrounding counties gathered at the Jim and Shirley Justice Center in Anniston to celebrate each other and hear speaker Merika Coleman, representing District 19, Alabama State Senate and special guest Lilly Ledbetter.
Forty eight women signed up to attend (the max capacity was 50); several couldn't make it; then there were some 'walk ins' who made up the difference. Each and every one of these powerful women had something to contribute. Some got away before we managed to gather for this photo. It truly was an inspirational event. #InspireInclusion
A little about our inspirational speakers:
While the Jim and Shirley Justice Center's comfortable 'luncheon capacity' is about 50 - we are convinced the event will grow in size and will be held at a much larger venue next year! The event is strictly non-political. It is intended entirely - to hold local women up for all they contribute to their families and communities. And to #InspireInclusion

ALSO, the Calhoun Journal, posted a great article of the event. Please read it at https://calhounjournal.com/empowering-international-womens-day-celebration-inspires-change-in-anniston/ Again, you just may see yourself :)
